VolumeGuard Privacy Policy

1. Scope and developer identity

This Privacy Policy applies to the VolumeGuard Android application, developed by ClickEdgeMedia (“ClickEdgeMedia,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). It does not describe the data practices of unrelated websites, apps, or services.

You do not need to create a VolumeGuard or ClickEdgeMedia account to use the core media-volume locking features.

2. Data and device access

VolumeGuard accesses or processes the following information to provide features you choose to use:

Media volume and audio settings

VolumeGuard reads and changes media-volume settings to monitor and enforce the target or maximum selected by the user. This processing occurs on the device.

Foreground service and notifications

When volume locking is enabled, a foreground service provides continuous, user-visible media-volume enforcement.POST_NOTIFICATIONS is used to display lock and service status where the user grants notification permission. If notification permission is denied, Android may still expose foreground-service status through system surfaces.

Notification Listener access

Notification Listener access is optional and must be granted by the user in Android settings. The current implementation can inspect the posting application, notification title, and notification text to identify volume- or media-related notifications. This information is processed locally and is not sent to ClickEdgeMedia servers.

Usage Access

Usage Access is optional and must be granted by the user in Android settings. It is used to determine which app is in the foreground for per-app behavior. Package names and usage events are processed locally and are not sent to ClickEdgeMedia servers.

Installed applications and package visibility

VolumeGuard accesses application names and package identifiers to display apps that users can select for monitoring. This information is processed locally.

Biometric or device authentication

Optional authentication is performed by Android and the device’s security APIs. VolumeGuard receives only the authentication result; it does not receive or store fingerprints, facial data, or other biometric templates.

Boot completion and package replacement

VolumeGuard receives system boot or package-replacement events to restore an enabled persistent lock after a reboot or app update.

Battery behavior

VolumeGuard does not request the directREQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS permission. The app may explain how Android battery management can affect background reliability and let the user open Android battery settings manually. VolumeGuard does not automatically obtain or require a battery-optimization exemption.

3. Purposes of processing

VolumeGuard processes information to:

• monitor and enforce the user’s selected media-volume settings;
• provide optional per-app, notification-aware, authentication, and restart behavior;
• store app settings and security or audit history locally;
• request and display ads in accordance with consent and regional requirements;
• offer, process, restore, and acknowledge purchases through Google Play; and
• maintain app security, reliability, and entitlement state.

4. Third-party services

Google AdMob and User Messaging Platform

VolumeGuard uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) to display ads and Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) to collect and manage privacy choices where required. VolumeGuard does not request ads until UMP reports that ads may be requested.

Depending on app configuration, region, and user consent, Google Mobile Ads may process:

• IP address and general location inferred from IP address;
• Advertising ID, app-set ID, and related device or account identifiers;
• device and operating-system information;
• app launches, taps, ad interactions, impressions, and video views; and
• diagnostic, crash, and performance information.

Users may receive personalized, non-personalized, or limited ads depending on consent, app configuration, and regional requirements. When Google indicates that privacy options are required, users can revisit their choices through the privacy-options control in the app. For details about Google’s processing, see Google’s Privacy Policy.

Google Play Billing

VolumeGuard uses Google Play Billing for premium or lifetime purchases and any subscription products configured for the app. Google Play processes payment details. VolumeGuard receives purchase state, product identifiers, purchase tokens, acknowledgement state, and entitlement information needed to provide purchased features.

VolumeGuard does not store payment-card information and currently does not perform server-side purchase verification. Google’s handling of billing data is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy and applicable Google Play terms.

5. Data sharing and sale

Information stored for VolumeGuard’s core features remains on the device and is not sent to a ClickEdgeMedia backend. Data is disclosed to Google when needed for AdMob, UMP, and Google Play Billing, as described in this policy. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect legal rights, safety, and security.

ClickEdgeMedia does not sell VolumeGuard user data.

6. Storage and security practices

App preferences, selected packages, lock state, authentication configuration, and security or audit information are stored locally. VolumeGuard uses both standard AndroidSharedPreferences andEncryptedSharedPreferences. Some sensitive settings use encrypted storage, while other preferences use standard private Android app storage. A local Room database stores security and audit information.

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, but no storage or transmission method is completely secure. Device security, operating-system protections, backups, and user settings can also affect the protection of locally stored data.

7. Retention and deletion

Local VolumeGuard data remains on the device until it is cleared through Android or available app controls, or until the app is uninstalled, subject to Android backup and restore behavior. Users can also revoke optional Notification Listener, Usage Access, notification, and authentication permissions through Android settings.

Data processed by Google is retained and deleted according to Google’s policies and the user’s Google or device settings. Because ClickEdgeMedia does not receive the app’s locally stored settings, we cannot delete that local data remotely.

8. User choices and privacy rights

Depending on location, users may have rights to:

• request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information controlled by ClickEdgeMedia;
• object to or restrict certain processing;
• withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
• opt out of certain targeted advertising or data sharing; and
• appeal or complain to a relevant privacy regulator.

Users can manage optional Android access in system settings, clear local app data, uninstall the app, manage Google ad settings, and revisit in-app privacy choices when Google requires the privacy options entry point. Contact us to exercise rights relating to data controlled by ClickEdgeMedia. We may need to verify a request and may retain information where required by law.

9. Children’s privacy

VolumeGuard is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13 or the minimum age required by local law. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through a ClickEdgeMedia account or backend. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can review and address the request.

10. International users

Google may process information in countries other than the user’s country of residence. Those countries may have different data protection laws. Google describes its international data practices and safeguards in its privacy documentation. ClickEdgeMedia handles privacy requests in accordance with applicable law.

11. Policy changes

We may update this policy when VolumeGuard’s features, third-party services, or legal obligations change. The updated policy will be posted at this permanent URL with a revised effective date. We may also provide an in-app notice when appropriate.
